Sierva Maria de Todos los Angeles

There is a legend of a twelve-year-old girl who died of rabies. In life, she was reknown for her long hair which trailed behind her her like a bridal-train. Before her death, she performed a number of miracles and was venerated by people because of this. Gabriel Garcia Marquez was present when her body was exhumed and he reports that her hair had continued growing after death and measured twenty-two metres and eleven centimetres.
Marquez's novel, 'Of love and other demons', is inspired by the legend of the girl and I've based my drawing upon how he has described her in the book. At twelve, the girl is imprisoned in the convent of Santa Clara as she was believed to be possessed by demons. I won't spoil the story by telling you any more
