A2 sized pencil drawing. I used a bit of white pastel & fixed it, in order to give me back a bit of white surface, which enabled me to add a forgotten chain at the end.
Scanned in eight sections and pieced back together (the final piece refused to fit and I had to scan it twice more; it's been like an impossible jigsaw puzzle). I might try photographing it instead one day and will update the image if it's an improvement on this. A certain person in my home emptied a cup of coffee over my scanner and put it out of action for a while. I was just about to get him to agree to buy me a bigger scanner as a replacement and then my rotten scanner decided to work again. Oh well I used stock images as reference for this - thanks to The background is completely invented (including the throne, etc.). Link to a previously posted detail [link] |

Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world; indeed, its the only thing that ever has. Margaret Mead
Okay, after five minutes of gazing, I guess I can try to write now.
"Grace in tribulation," that's what this says to me. You talk of my captive women as being "a testament to women's beauty, sexuality, and inner strength," but your's are grace and dignity given form. Wow. The overall juxtaposition of lights and darks is very engaging--far better than I mentally came up with yesterday with only half of it to go on. You sense some real heart and soul were put into this--a labor of love. Really, I'm awed, and I bow to you. --Faile35

I really appreciate your wonderful comment, I feel quite overwhelmed. I can see lots of things I did wrong, but it's a good learning process. I don't know if I have the stamina to face doing something this size again in a hurry. But I do enjoy doing these large drawings. Thanks again

PS. It's 10:30 here now, and that's time for bed. Not sleep--I really don't sleep much. But when I do, I hope I dream about angels...
