Artist's Comments

Pencil drawing given a sepia tone in PS. A3 sized (29.7x42 cms.). Over 50 hours work involved and I suspect there are still some bits that need more work.

CREDITS FOR REFERENCE PICS USED TO AID THIS DRAWING
Thank you to Stuart Dunlop for allowing me to use two of his photos of dog roses [link]
And thank you to Michael Herling of Garten Databank for granting permission for me to use a photo of a dog rose (used three times in the drawing). [link]
Link to the emails granting permission from both Stuart Dunlop and Michael Herling. [link]
The ladies/fairies in this drawing are based upon the images of three models. All the images were magazine tears from the same magazine (POP, Spring/Summer issue 2005).
The model with the raised arms is Shannon Click and the photographer of the original image is Lachlan Bailey.
Kim Noorda is the model for each of the two fairies; I've greatly diverted from these images in my drawing and there's little resemblance to the original pics. Original photos taken by Willy Vanderpierre.
The final face with the wispy hair iis based upon an unnamed model from a gucci ad. Sorry that I can't provide further information here. Link to WIP and those source ref pics. [link]

I hope I've remembered everything!

Damn Carole, I am not kidding, there is way more than 50 hours invested in this for certain. The detail is amazing. Your shading technique is growing in leaps and bounds. The eyes... I can't get over the eyes and shading on the top lady. Amazing. Love how you did the flowers and the one just under the middle lady's throat is my favorite. Love how the petal bends. You know me and bending petals. My "slides" lol!
I would love to see you do one sometime, similar to this one, with the pose of the top lady, and having her surrounded only in flowers and vines like these in this one. Maybe from the tip of breasts upward, showing throat and arms and a small, small section of her breasts. Just a peek. Filling the entire area with flowers everywhere else exactly as you did at the bottom of this one. I can see it in my mind, and I know, I know for a fact, that you would make it so beautiful. I wish my daughters were older, heh-heh, I would commission you do one like that of them for me. Few more years, then I am going to be begging at your door. Hear me? And you know already how I want it done. LOL!
Love your work, Carole. Very much!
